Back To Normal
she continues to
push her boulder up
the hill
like her, we're all
making the journey back
to normal
i wash dishes and
her hair is the
color of the water:
dishwater blonde
but we're looking for
fortunes
through different paths
to the promise
land
she stands outside the shelter
holding a cigarette, like a torch,
she is lady liberty, a goddess
but she doesn't know it yet
i keep thinking of
sisyphus
and his quixotic climb
how that boulder
she rolls feels like
the world
another morning i see her
and she's smiling
at me
every time she smiles
we both become
millionaires
we're making our way back to
normal
