Terrianne Swift is a freelance artist/poet living in my hometown, Dayton, Ohio; her poetry has been published in Loch Raven Review and Hazard Cat. She is inspired by and hopes to learn from the work of Anne Sexton, Wm Shakespeare, ee cummings, and H.e.Mantel/HaroHalola. Her first poetry contest ever was the Eye On Life Poetry Contest.

Eye On Life Poetry Contest 2010-2011 winners to be announced Monday, March 7th.
Our five excellent volunteer judges read and scored each contest entry anonymously and without communication with each other. They judged the poems on criteria such as imagery, rhythm and flow, form and unity, overall impact, originality, memorable language, form, music, precision of words, metaphor, creativity with language, and humor.
The results of their fine work will be presented right here on Monday. See you then!
Taylor Hagood is an assistant professor of American literature at Florida Atlantic University. She has published poems in several journals, including Iodoine Poetry Journal, Louisiana Literature, Moria, Wilmington Blues and The Fairfield Review.

Gretchen Yolande McGill lives with her
husband, Anthony, and cat, Mookie,
in Carmel, Indiana. Gretchen teaches
Advanced Placement English and
Literature, ACP Composition as an
adjunct professor for Indiana University,
and Creative Writing. Gretchen enjoys
reading, writing, gardening, yoga, travel,
and spending time with her family.
Gretchen earned her BA in Creative
Writing at Miami University, her BS
in Secondary Education/English through
Indiana University, and her MA in English
Literature at Butler University in 2007.

Jeff Bresee of Mansfield, Texas is a Civil Engineer by trade and owns and operates SET Engineers, a specialty-engineering firm that caters to Texas schools. However, Jeff is an artist and poet at heart. He presently has one published book of poetry entitled, “The Hidden Story” and plans a second book release soon. Additionally, Jeff serves as the lead vocalist/song writer for the Fort Worth, Texas based music band, ‘Weathered Pages’. Jeff plans to continue writing poetry, lyrics and songs and he looks forward to seeing where it all will lead.

Amye’s poetry has appeared in The Story Teller, Write On!! Poetry Magazette, Northern Stars Magazine, The Sheltered Poet, and is scheduled to appear in Westward Quarterly, The Pink Chameleon-Online, The Poet’s Art, The Stray Branch and Love’s Chance Magazine. She is a thirty-six year old life long resident of Utah and a married, stay at home mom of four small children. It is her aim to inspire the love of reading and writing poetry in her children as it has always inspired her.

The mission of the Eye On Life Poetry Travel Fund is to bring spoken word artists and written word poets together. Poetry that is read aloud is given an entirely new life of its own. We hope that by exposing poets who write compelling, valuable poetry but do not currently read their work in public will be inspired by exposure to spoken word artists at major slam events. Your contributions will go toward funding fare and travel expenses to bring written word poets to major spoken word events.
