KNEE FREE
Her knees flash like cat’s eyes at night
as she climbs down the stairs
in her shorts and long socks attire.
The knees must seethe with heat waves
shimmering beneath long pants
heating her entire being until free --
smiling kneecaps like prisoners
released to wonder in outside world.
