Why I love vintage shoes

I am in love with many vintage  and vintage style things.  Vintage shoes are a special favorite of mine.  Like many women, I do appreciate an exquisite shoe.  However, I rarely buy them.  Unless of course it’s a lovely vintage shoe that I cannot live without.  And when I do, you can be sure that each vintage pair has a place and a purpose.

I came across this gorgeous photograph posted on tumblr. It took my breath away, and may I just say, “simple tess” on flickr is a lucky girl. These are her vintage style suede pilgrim shoes. She has them displayed on a vintage trunk. I know you’ll love and be inspired by Tess’ photo as much as I do and am.

Vintage shoes, of course, are meant to be worn.  They are also meant to be admired.  Some are so gorgeous, it would be a shame not to display them (whether you wear them or not).  I’ve found that a beautiful vintage shoe looks remarkably fabulous juxtaposed with other favorite items.   Books, for example.  A bookcase with creatively placed books can offer a wonderful gallery to display your vintage shoes.  Certainly this may seem a bit extravagant, but it is quite an eclectic look when done correctly, and you will find many a visitor appreciate the display.

Adding a touch of vintage fashion to your decor makes for the most pleasant of surroundings.  Why?  Because you’re surrounding yourself with the things you love.

One of my favorite pastimes?  Admiring photos of vintage shoes.  I dare say I have accumulated quite a collection in this manner.  I have also come to know many beautiful blogs that share the same appreciation of fine vintage shoes.

Here are some photographs of vintage shoes I found which I wanted to pass along for inspiration and admiration like only vintage shoes can provide.
